We are a not-for-profit, non-sectarian independent school. For the 2005-2006 school year we are offering classes in first through eighth grade. Starting in 2006 our plan calls for growing our school by adding Pre K and kindergarten (ages 3 through 6), and we actively pursue the development of a diverse school community.
Sunrise School of Miami is a new Waldorf Initiative, having fulfilled the requirements of the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (www.AWSNA.org). Sunrise School is also a registered independent school with the State of Florida Department of Education.
The faculty and administration at Sunrise are deeply committed to ongoing teacher training and continuing studies to ensure that our students are fully engaged in the richness of the Waldorf education philosophy. Our faculty has and is receiving training from the certified Waldorf teacher training centers of Antioch and Sunbridge College .
In addition to our resident faculty, Sunrise is proud to be involved with Waldorf mentors from such schools as Shining Mountain , CO , Corvallis , OR , and Santa Clara , CA . These mentors spend weeks at a time with our students, faculty and parents to further immerse the Sunrise community in the many aspects of Waldorf educational practices. Each bring with them over 20 years of teaching experience.
We welcome you to contact our office for additional information regarding our program and admissions.
